win-win in-company project : scania project makes us maturer


 

scania project is an in-company consultancy project (icp) between beijing international mba(bimba) and scania sales (china) co.,ltd., conducted by by fulltime mba 2009 students. the objective of this in company project (icp) is to find at least two suitable candidates to be developed into potential scania dealerships in each of eight predetermined cities to expand the premium truck sales and service network for scania through a collection of data and qualitative analysis.

 

the project team consists of five mba students, three of them coming from europe and south america pre-bimba study. with different industry background and several years working experience, they contribute enormously into this project. they traveled around eight cities - chengdu, xian, wuhan, chongqing, kunming, shenyang, dalian and changsha and visited more than forty dealers, covering all major trucks sales company to collect market research data, finally make a feasibility analysis combined with scania corporate expansion needs and goals, develop a preferred dealer chosen method and suggest a different order of priority compared to the one predetermined by scania.

from students:

the most challenge part is time management and fast-learning: three months, eight cities and more than forty dealers is indeed a dual test of physical and mental condition. working efficiently in the travel helps students gain more experience in effective time management. visiting many enterprises also opens up a broader vision of truck industry. what we have learned and wehave practiced are combined closely together. the travel is tough but meaningful.

 

the most important is customer oriented communication. only with a deep understanding of the company's culture and interest points, and in-depth knowledge of domestic truck industry in order can we develop the best solution. always keep in touch with the company and closely track the change of requirements is the best way to maximize benefits of the company and students’ personal value.

 

the biggest gain is team friendship. in three months, the five people forged a profound friendship. we are in close coordination, mutual tolerance and sacrifice. in daily life, we care for each other help each other, making friendship deeper every day.

the successful completion of scania project got great praise from both the company and bimba. also it is another successful example for the new model of cooperation between bimba and companies. with more and more experience, bimba will improve icp, and strive to provide better counseling services for companies and more high-end practice opportunities for students.
